Scientists say that daytime sleep after 40 years is deadly

A group of scientists from the University of Cambridge carried out a number of studies, during which it was possible to find out that there is a certain connection between daytime sleep and premature death. Only excessive sleepiness, especially after the age of 40, can be a terrible disadvantage of proper sound sleep. Moreover, the longer the daytime sleep, the higher the risk of death.

After analyzing the data on 16,374 Britons, experts found that people who exceed the sleep rate of 7-8 hours by 1 hour had a 14% increase in the risk of death over the next 13 years. If excessive drowsiness was observed for more than one hour per day, the likelihood of premature death increased to 32%. Also interesting is the fact that such dependence was often manifested among people who reached a certain age, namely from 40 to 80 years.

Experts note that the reasons for this dependence have not yet been disclosed. However, it is assumed that drowsiness and weakness throughout the day can cause the development of certain diseases. Therefore, one way or another, prolonged sleep is an indicator of health risks, especially when it comes to people who are already 40 years old or more.
