How to enter a state of sleep paralysis and get out of a stupor

Many people have at least once experienced the sensation when, after unexpectedly awakening, an attack of fear arises, and the body cannot move, as if paralyzed. This is the effect of sleep paralysis, and there is nothing mystical about it. Everything can be explained by the peculiarities of the brain. Sometimes, due to malfunctions, the brain mediators responsible for consciousness begin to work before the mediators that send a signal for the activity of muscle tissue.

Scientists have proven that the paralysis state is not dangerous for humans. Nevertheless, the emotions of fear and horror from the inability to move are quite real, so emotionally unstable people can suffer from the psyche. And yet, many dreamers are interested in how to cause sleep paralysis; people are generally inherent in being interested in the unknown secrets of consciousness.

Techniques for inducing sleep paralysis

There are many techniques out there that teach how to enter the state of sleep paralysis. Most of them are proven through the trial and error of ordinary people. There are no scientifically approved methods, so before you practice, you need to make sure that the person is emotionally and morally ready to lift this veil.

Method # 1

It has been experimentally established that there is a relationship between irregular restless sleep and the likelihood of stupor.

The duration of healthy sleep is an individual indicator, it varies from 6 to 9 hours. Frequent sleep deprivation negatively affects the functioning of the entire body. In addition to lethargy, irritability, decreased concentration, having a genetic predisposition, it is possible to provoke an aggravation of pathologies such as diabetes and heart disease. Unstable sleep also increases the risk of sleep stupor.

To provoke this phenomenon, you will have to disrupt sleep cycles. During the day, you need to be active, even if fatigue and weakness rolls over. After that, in the evening, you should go to sleep for a short time. Waking up after 2-3 hours (for this you can set an alarm clock and not ignore it), you will have to force yourself to do something, you can sit on social networks, read a book, do household chores and go to bed again after a couple of hours. You need to fall asleep while lying on your back. A causal relationship has not been scientifically established between provoking stupor and sleeping posture, but it has been proven that people sleeping on their backs are more likely to experience the phenomenon of paralysis.

Falling asleep, you need to keep one word in your head and mentally repeat it to yourself. Concentrating on it, a person will feel complete relaxation of the body, which will begin to fall asleep. It is important here not to move or move your eyes. It is by the movement of the eyes that the brain determines whether a person is ready for sleep or not.

Emerging flashes of light, flickering, incomprehensible visions and shadows on the border between sleep and reality are the harbingers of a sleepy stupor.

Method # 2

Another technique for being able to experience sleep paralysis involves tricking the body into thinking that the brain is already asleep.

If you lie still for a long time, the signals from the brain will stop going to the muscles. Until the brain sends an order to shut off the muscles to completely fall asleep, the body sends test signals to the mind, determining whether it is asleep. A person feels such test signals as an acute desire to change the position of the body in bed – to turn on the other side or lie on his stomach. In a normal state, if a person has not yet fallen asleep and wanted to roll over, he simply does it without thinking about the process. A conscious change in position is recognized by the body as the fact that the mind is still awake, so a stupor does not occur – both the brain and muscles work synchronously. After the mind has fallen asleep, the signals from the muscles do not reach it, the person does not move, the body turns off muscle reflexes and falls asleep by itself.

To achieve the effect of sleep paralysis without actually being in a dream, you need to ignore the incoming signal from the body to change position. Any urgent need – to scratch your nose, lie on your side, bend your leg, open your eyes, should be ignored. It’s actually not so easy to do this, you have to overcome it. The urge to move can be so intense and unnerving that it sometimes turns into pain.

However, after about 30-40 minutes, heaviness in the limbs begins to be felt, pressure in the chest, as if someone had piled all over the body and does not allow movement, sometimes auditory hallucinations occur – this is sleep paralysis. If you open your eyes at the time of its onset, visual hallucinations may occur, which are called waking dreams. They are not always pleasant, visions of shadows, ghosts and something otherworldly are not excluded, however, it is impossible to move and drive them away, because the body is already asleep, and the muscles are paralyzed. If, without leaving the stupor, you fall asleep for real, there is an opportunity to achieve lucid dreams – controlled sleep.

It is important to note that the body test signals will be the stronger, the more tense the muscles were before falling asleep and the more tired the person was. Therefore, wanting to cause the effect of a sleepy stupor, you need to be active during the day.

Method # 3

Another method is similar to the first technique – the body must be brought to exhaustion and extreme fatigue, and before going to sleep, drink strong coffee. It is possible that you will have to try this method several times in order to determine the required period of time for the onset of the action of caffeine on the sleeping brain in order to cause the necessary reaction in it.

Immediately after falling asleep, the phase of REM sleep begins , if you choose the right time, caffeine will begin to act at this very moment. A person will suddenly wake up from a jump in tone caused by an alkaloid, and fall into a state of sleep paralysis.

How to get out of a stupor

Having told about the ways to achieve the paralysis phenomenon , it is worth mentioning how to get out of the state of sleep paralysis. Exit rules:

  • First you need to realize that extraneous sounds and visions are not mysticism, and there is nothing scary in them, the main thing is not to panic, but simply to relax.
  • To get out of the stupor, you need to take a deep breath. By the way, sometimes the phenomenon is accompanied by difficulty breathing, a person seems to forget how to breathe, and this can also provoke a panic state.
  • The muscles of the mouth are paralyzed, like everyone else, so you can make a sound through the nasopharynx, it will be like mooing or moaning.
  • The muscles of the face are the first to “come to life”, so it is best to just blink frequently, close your eyes, and move your tongue over your gums.
  • You should start moving from small areas of the body, for example, from the fingers, bending and unbending them.
  • Another easy way to get out of a stupor is to silently count from 1 to 10 or retell the alphabet, so the brain gets into work faster.

It takes literally a few minutes to get out of the stupor after sleep.

Attention! Daily attempts to induce sleep paralysis can provoke depletion of the body, since uninterrupted sleep is the basis of human health.
