Common types of sleep disorders

INSOMNIA

Another name for insomnia is insomnia . This state is characterized by a difficult and painful falling asleep, which can last for several hours, frequent awakening in the middle of the night. It worries about 40% of women and 30% of men. Moreover, half of them are over 65 years old.

For insomnia, sleeping pills, sedatives (valerian, Persen ), or even folk remedies for insomnia can help you fall asleep . Reconsider your daily habits and learn to relax before bed.

SLEEP APNEA

Apnea is the stopping of breathing during sleep. It can last from a few seconds to several minutes. This may trigger an awakening, or you may not even be able to remember those awakenings. But in the morning, you will most likely feel drained, irritable, and depressed throughout the day. In addition, such a symptom can be potentially life-threatening, so see your doctor as soon as possible.

Restless Feet Syndrome

Restless Legs Syndrome or Ekbom Syndrome is a very strange sleep disorder. Patients describe it as an irresistible urge to move the limbs due to unpleasant, pulling sensations, tingling and other sensations. And it arises exactly at the moment of falling asleep, distracting from the mood for a restful sleep.

NARCOLEPSY

Narcolepsy, according to scientists, is caused by a disturbance in the neurochemical balance of the brain. It manifests itself in a feeling of general weakness during the day, uncontrolled daytime sleepiness, and even sudden falling asleep. The person may wake up, but is completely paralyzed and experiences hallucinations. Most often, these symptoms are experienced by young people.

EFFECTS OF SLEEP DISTURBANCES

Sleep helps your brain function properly. Lack of sleep or restless sleep can have serious health consequences. The most obvious problems are fatigue and low energy, irritability and attention problems. Sleep problems often coexist with symptoms of depression or anxiety. For example, sleep problems can worsen depression, and depression, in turn, can lead to sleep problems.

Sleep deprivation or excess sleep is associated with many chronic health problems such as heart disease and diabetes, heart failure, osteoarthritis, and Parkinson’s disease.
