A cramp is an involuntary contraction of a muscle. It is usually accompanied by a tingling sensation, severe pain. Typically, the spasm lasts from a few seconds to several minutes. In severe illnesses, it can be quite long.
Seizures are divided into two main types – idiopathic and secondary. The former are usually triggered by external factors – heavy load, excess weight. Most often, young people suffer from idiopathic disorders. Secondary – are the result of any disease, can occur at any age.

The main causes of calf muscle cramps during sleep are:

- Spasms go away thanks to the infusion of adonis. The crushed plant is poured with boiling water and insisted, as in the previous recipe. Take in the same way as the infusion of linden blossom.
- Decoctions from various herbs and plants are effective: walnut, lily of the valley, heather, barberry, hawthorn, blackberry, hops, thyme, chamomile, oregano and black elderberry.
- An infusion of cinquefoil, which must be taken three times a day, soothes spasms.
- To relax muscles and get rid of cramps, you can make a decoction of fennel, anise, caraway seeds and mint leaves, which are poured with boiling water. The resulting mixture should be infused. It is carefully filtered and drunk all day in small sips.
- The usual chamomile decoction also helps. Dried flowers can be bought at any pharmacy and are inexpensive. Chamomile needs to be insisted, pour boiling water, drain. Then take the broth in a third of the glass for a week, preferably after meals three times a day.
- Honey is an anticonvulsant product. It is taken 30 grams before meals three times a day. Within a week, spasms will become much less disturbing. But at the first sign of honey allergy, you should stop using it.
- A mixture of celandine juice and petroleum jelly helps a lot. They must be mixed in a 1: 2 ratio. This composition should be rubbed into the calves in the evenings with massaging movements. After two weeks, the cramps will subside.

To prevent muscle spasm, you should follow these tips:

To prevent cramps and get rid of them permanently, there are exercise complexes. Most of them are simple and do not require any special training. The main thing is to do them regularly.
You can choose the most suitable option from the following:
- Get on your heels, pull your toes up and try to maintain balance for at least ten seconds. Repeat 7 times.
- Get up on your toes, lifting your heels off the floor, return to the starting position – 10 times.
- Smoothly “roll” from heel to toe – 10 times.
- Lie on your back and stretch your arms and legs as much as possible. On the feet, the toes should be touching, but the heels should not. After that, pull the arms and legs as much as possible, straining the muscles on a deep breath, and relaxing on the exhale. Repeat 7 times.
- Stand near the wall at a distance of about a meter, stretch out your arms and rest against it. You should feel how the calf muscles stretch. Keep the heels firmly pressed to the floor. Maintain this position for 15 seconds, then return to the starting position. Repeat 4-5 times with small intervals.
- Walk on tiptoe for a few minutes a day.
