The liver is the most important cleansing organ in humans. In one day, it eliminates harmful substances on average two thousand liters of blood, filtering it three hundred, or even four hundred times a day. In this case, the liver is either not given due attention, or, due to illiteracy, even harm is done. This article presents five misconceptions about liver health.
1. The more cleaning, the better the performance
Perhaps one of the most common “grandmother’s” methods is to cleanse the liver using sunflower, olive and other vegetable oils in combination with lemon juice. For some reason, the people believe that purification leads to recovery. Perhaps, but not in the case of the liver. After all, such procedures with this organ are a direct path to the operating table, since the bile ducts are blocked, and this leads to hepatic colic. Also, due to such “recovery”, a stress load on the liver may occur, which will lead to a disorder of the organ’s functionality.
2. The liver is bad only in hardened alcoholics
In fact, the liver can go bad not only among those who drink alcohol with enviable regularity, but also among those who rarely eat this product. Drinking even a small dose of alcohol leads to the destruction of liver cells.
3. Liver scourge – only strong alcohol
Another myth about liver health is that if you drink low-grade alcohol (beer or wine), then it will not get anything. But this is by no means the case, because the safest dose for the liver is twenty grams of alcohol, but people often drink many times more.
4. Alcohol is the only bad thing for the liver
It is very naive to believe that if a person is an absolute teetotaler, then nothing threatens his liver, since healthy food is an important basis for its health. If there is a lot of fatty and sweet foods, the liver will not be able to cope with the processing of lipids (fats), and it will not be able to remove harmful substances from the body (viruses, bacteria, decay products). As a result, half of the cells will swell with fat. An inflammatory process will begin, and half of the cells will begin to die off, which leads to the most serious consequences – cirrhosis or even liver cancer. But all these not entirely rosy prospects can be avoided if there are fewer sweets and fatty foods, more vegetables and fruits and a constant diet.
5. Liver disease cannot be cured
Many people think that liver diseases are incurable, but they are not. Its cells are capable of regeneration, even if half of them are lost. You just need to eat right and exclude the use of alcoholic beverages.
